Ghost

Open source publishing and membership platform for blogs, newsletters and online publications.

Overview

Ghost is a headless, Node.js-based content platform focused on professional publishing - blogs, newsletters, and membership/subscription sites - rather than being a general-purpose CMS. Content is managed through Ghost's admin interface and delivered to your own frontend (themes or a custom site) via its Content API.

You can self-host it using the official `ghost-cli` tool, which handles local installs for development or full production installs on a server, including automatic SSL via Let's Encrypt. Alternatively, Ghost(Pro) is an official managed hosting service that can launch a site in a couple of minutes with CDN, backups, and maintenance included; its revenue funds the nonprofit Ghost Foundation that maintains the open-source project.

It suits publishers, writers, and small teams who want a dedicated publishing and membership platform rather than adapting a general CMS for that purpose.
